A Portrait of Harold W. Johnson - A Tribute

Happy Thursday. This is a painting I completed just recently of the artist Harold W. Johnson. His name might not be too widespread, I could not find much about him on the internet. Yet he is an amazing artist and I have seen him at many art shows and festivals in the northwest. He is an amazing marine painter with numerous beautiful paintings of ships and boats on the water, he really captures the scene. And he is quite a distinct looking character as you can see, I was taken by how well he fits within his painting genre because he looks like he belongs on the water. And he seemed like a very friendly and humble man so it was a joy and a privilege to take his picture and then to paint it for your enjoyment. The painting in this painting is not actually a replica of one of his, I had to use one of my own ocean pictures and I do not believe it is near as brilliant as his own seascapes yet I wanted the main focus to be him, so hopefully this does him justice. The size is about 4" by 6", oil on acrylic underpainting.

  1. An amazing painting of an awesome artist. He should be more well known, but alas! There is no accounting for the public's lack of good taste. Very well done!
